Joseph W. Boyd was the son of Thomas & Susannah Boyd. He married Catherine Bair on May 1, 1838 in Montgomery Ferry, Pennsylvania. Joseph & Catherine were the parents of 10 children: Isaac Peter, Jesse Thomas, Jacob Washington, Susannah, Joseph Wesley Jr., Sarah Ann, Samuel, Oliver Perry, Hibbert Moses & David. Joseph was a farmer, attended the Methodist church and was a Civil War veteran (Union army).
