Stokes and the Rise of Black Political Power, written by Leonard N. Moore, published in 2002, her surname is shown as "Stone." The name "Cinthy" on her gravestone may have been a nickname. Louise was the mother of Cleveland Mayor Carl B. Stokes and U.S. Congressman Louis Stokes.
