Ref: William Judson Outcalt: Claude was a second Engineer on one of the great lakes freightors. He lived with the Brasingtons, in Cleveland, OH during the winter season. He was drowned during a severe storm on Lake Superior when the steamer SS Mataafa struck a cement pier while trying to get into the harbor at Duluth, MN. His body was never found. The Brasington's, (cousin) using money from his estate, purchased a lot and erected a stone to his memory in the Lake Cemetery in Cleveland.
