Mary was born on Jan. 10, 1940 in Bavaria. She came to America as a child of nine years in 1849 with her parents -- assume to Montgomery County, New York.
She married Paul Bernhard about 1858 in New York when she was about 18 and had her first child, Frank, in 1859 when she was 19 and Henry was born in 1860 -- both in Minden, New York. Adaline, Paul, Joseph, Charles, Minnie, Bloomfield, Frederick and George were all born in Rome, NY -- and Harry, her last son, was born in Cleveland, Ohio in 1881 when Mary was 41.
According to the 1900 and 1910 census, Mary had 12 children with 9 living. We know of Henry who died in 1881 and baby George who died about Mar. 1880 in Cleveland from pneumonia but cannot find the 12th child.
Mary was living with her daughter Minnie at 12094 Sterns Rd. in the 1910 Cleveland census.
Death certificate lists her residence as 10808 St. Clair Ave.
Mary died at the age of 79 from a cerebral apoplexy on April 7, 1919 -- 18 years after Paul died. She is buried at Lake View Cemetery along with Paul in Sec. 25, Lot 86.
Also buried at Lake View Cemetery with Mary and Paul are sons Paul, Charles and Frederick.

MARY ANN BERNHARD, living at 10808 St. Clair Ave., Cleveland; husband, Paul Bernhard; died at home from cerebral apoplexy, age 78 yrs. Interment Lake View. Informant was son Joe Bernhard. He states she was born in Bavaria on Jan. 10, 1840. Her parents were Wolfgang Bellman and Catherine Ball??.
