MERRILL L. BURGESS
HARRINGTON – Merrill L. Burgess, 71 died suddenly Tuesday at his home here.
He was born at Milbridge, July 14, 1894, the son of Lester and Louise (Babbage) Burgess.
He was a veteran of World War One; a member of the American Legion Narraguagus Post of Cherryfield; and the Red Men's Lodge of Jonesport.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Editha Burgess; one son, Lester Burgess of Harrington; five brothers, Harold Burgess of Harrington, Maurice Burgess of Columbia, Mariner Burgess of Holbrook, Mass., Walter Burgess of Addison and Berlin Burgess of Dover, N.H.; six sisters, Mrs. Shirley Rollston of Port Richey, Fla., Mrs. Josie Smith of Harrington, Mrs. Lena Mitchell of Bar Harbor, Mrs. Mertie Nickerson of Holbrook, Mass., Mrs. Gladys Woodworth of Salsbury Cove, and Mrs. Hilda Look of Addison; two grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be held Friday at 2 p.m. at the Methodist Church at Harrington with the Rev. Robert Stuart officiating assisted by the Rev. Erma Bigelow, both of Harrington.
Interment will be in the family lot at Pine Grove Cemetery.
