MR. WILLIAM GIDDENS DEAD
---
A Prominent Citizen of Berrien County Passed Away Sunday
Mr. William Giddens, an old and prominent citizen of Berrien county died Sunday night after a lingering illness of nearly a year. Up to a year ago, he was in vigorous health of body and mind, but he had an attack of some thing like paralysis about that time and has been an invalid since then. Owing to his very feeble condition his death was expected at almost any time. His death Sunday night came suddenly, but it was not unexpected.
He was about seventy-six years of age and had lived in this section all of his life, his parents coming from North Carolina in the early days of the history of this section. He was a successful farmer and reared a large family to become prominent in their various callings. His living children are: Messrs. Moses, Math, James, William, Marcus, Isben, John and Henry Giddens, and Mrs. J. B. Carter, of this city.
The funeral services were conducted at the old Burnt Church on the Alapaha river and a large concourse of friends and relatives were present to witness the last rites. The sympathy of a large number of friends
throughout this section will go out to the family.
