Death of Johnson F. Renn

A very sudden death occurred in this place on Friday evening of last week when Johnson F. Renn was stricken with a stroke of paralysis at his home on Priestley Terrace. Mr. Renn had just eaten supper after his return from his duties at the Converting Works, where he was employed for some time, when he was taken ill. Death occurred shortly afterward.

The deceased was 45 years old. He was born in Sunbury, lived at Chestnut Ridge for some time and he came to Northumberland about ten years ago. He left his wife, who was Miss Lizzie Rowe of Chestnut Ridge, and one daughter, Daisy. He also left two brothers, Thaddeus R. Renn of Sunbury and Thomas J. Renn of Shamokin, and two sisters, Mrs. Joseph Kramer and Mrs. Franklin Seasholtz of Sunbury.

Mr. Renn was raised by Eli Gaugler, who died about two months ago at this home in Shamokin Dam and was buried in Riverview cemetery at this place. Mr. Renn was a member of the United Evangelical church of Chestnut Ridge and of the local Camp of the P. O. S. of A.

The funeral was held on Tuesday afternoon at the local Evangelical church. The pastor, Rev. H. C. Guthrie, officiated. member of the local P. O. S. of A. Camp asted as casket bearers. They were Isaac Murray, E. S. Bordner, Daniel Sarviss, Frank Wilhelm John Shaffer and Martin Kistner. Interment was made in Riverview cemetery.
