Oneida K. Daisey

SALISBURY — Oneida K. Beebe Daisey, 94, passed away peacefully at her home in Mallard Landing, Salisbury, on Monday, Oct. 3, 2011. Known to all her friends and family as "Nete," she had been a resident of Salisbury since 2003, and prior to that was a 40-year resident of Springfield, Fairfax County, Va.

Born in Chincoteague Island at her family's home on July 11, 1917, she was a daughter of Emma Watson Beebe and her husband, Ray Beebe. In 1935, she married her sweetheart, Roy Daisey, and began a marriage that would endure for 74 years until his death in 2010. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Eula Beebe; and a daughter, Patricia Ann Daisey.

Nete is survived by a sister, Jean B. Daisey of Chincoteague; a sister-in-law, Melva Elliott of Chincoteague; a nephew, Ray Daisey and his wife, Maureen, of Pocomoke City; a niece, Lynn Capra and her husband, Lou, of Chesapeake, Va.; four great-nephews and one great-niece.

Mrs. Daisey was a homemaker. She was a member of Union Baptist Church in Chincoteague. She enjoyed attending Shriner events with her husband, and was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and the Daughters of the Nile. She enjoyed being at home, cooking, playing cards and socializing.

There will be a visitation and Eastern Star service at Salyer Funeral Home in Chincoteague on Friday evening from 7-9 p.m. A graveside service will take place at noon on Saturday in Greenwood Cemetery in Chincoteague. The Rev. Travis DeLoach and the Rev. Kevin Eley will officiate.

Memorial donations may be sent to the charity of your choice, or to Shriner's Children's hospital fund, C/O Kena Temple Shriners, 9001 Arlington Blvd. Fairfax, Va. 22031.
