Peter was born March 1, 1917 in Watsonville, California the son of Anton and Lucy Bakich. He grew up and graduated from Watsonville High School. He was a long time resident of San Jose where he worked for Southern Pacific Railroad for 44 years. He returned to Santa Cruz County in the mid 1980's.
Peter attended church at the Shrine of Saint Joseph. He was very active in Little League Baseball both as a league president and as a district administrator for 20 years.
He is survived by his long time companion, Ruth Mallett of Santa Cruz; three sons, Rusty and Kris Bakich of Colorado, Steve and Barbara Bakich of Tennesee and Jim Bakich and Colleen Parish of San Juan Bautista; daughter in law, Jan Stumhoffer of San Jose; sister, Mary Lou Gil of Napa; he is also survived by nine grandchildren, three nieces and two nephews. Peter is preceded in death by his wife of 41 years, Zelma Bakich, his brother, Bud Bakich and two sisters, Nita Howard and Margie Radylac.
A private cremation was conducted by Benito & Azzaro Pacific Gardens Chapel 1050 Cayuga St, Santa Cruz, CA. Interment was in Oakhill Memorial Park, San Jose, CA
