Marshall Edwin Abney, 84, of Ringgold, GA, died on Thursday October 6, 2011.

A lifelong resident of the Ringgold, GA area, Marshall was a business man and entrepreneur in the Ringgold area. He was a member of the Ringgold First Baptist Church, a Veteran of the U.S. Army where he served in the 82nd Airborne Division, a life member of the Quitman Masonic Lodge #106 and a member of the American Legion Post 40.

Marshall was preceded in death by his wife, Vivian Beaver Abney; daughter, Charlotte Ann Abney; parents, Grover C. and Lillian Black Abney, and six brothers, Woodrow, Raymond, Watson, Howard, G.C. and Jesse Abney.

He is survived by two children, Lamar Abney of Sarasota, FL, and Jackie Wofford of Ringgold, GA; three grandchildren, Austin and Jacqueline Abney, both of Sarasota, FL, and Cam Wofford of Ringgold, GA; and several nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, October 9, 2011 at Anderson Cemetery with Brother Mark Smith officiating.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, October 8, 2011 from 3-9 p.m., and Sunday until 2:30 p.m. at the funeral home.

Arrangements are by Wilson Funeral Home Wallis-Stewart Chapel, Ringgold, GA.
