She received her education in the Minatare school system where she was an honor student and was in band and choir activities. Gay was Jobs Daughters queen of the Minatare Bethel. She then went to junior college for one year. Gay was a secretary for Dr. Carr during her college years. In 1965, she met her first, and only love, Bill Cronkrite. The couple exchanged wedding vows June 10, 1966, in Las Vegas. To this union, the apple-of-her-eye, Becky was born. During this time, Gay was working for the ASCS Office where she received numerous awards from the government. She enjoyed helping the farmers and working with them during challenging times. Gay took great satisfaction in helping farmers with new programs that would assist them in being successful. This was one of her highlights, as anyone could see by pictures and drawings that were in her home. She also loved traveling, fishing, reading, craftwork, and a good game of cribbage, which will be missed by Bill, wishing the games were still going on. Her husband and daughter have so many fond memories, which are impossible to write down, but will be carried in their hearts until they meet with her again. Her parents, infant sister, Rose Mary, and grandson, Brud Cronkrite, preceded Gay in death.
