She was named after her mother's three sister-in-laws but went by the name Beth in adulthood.

Rose Elizabeth Mae Harper Quigle, 92, longtime Decatur resident, died Saturday (Sept. 29, 2001) in Decatur Memorial Hospital.
Private family graveside services will be in Stewardson Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Smith/ Quigle Family Scholarship Fund at Millikin University or donor's choice.
She was born and raised in Stewardson, the daughter of Noah and Florence Shumard Harper. She attended Eastern Illinois University and was formerly an elementary teacher in the Stewardson area. She was a member of the PEO and Westminster Presbyterian Church. She was an avid bridge player, golfer and member of the Country Club of Decatur for more than 35 years. She married Merle A. Quigle June 19, 1932, in Stewardson Methodist Church. They celebrated their 69th wedding anniversary June 19, 2001.
Surviving are her husband; son, Rodger (Nancy) of Decatur; daughter, Jan Quigle Frede of Northbrook; grandchildren, Paul R. Quigle, Matthew F. Quigle, John Frede Jr. and Jill Frede Hill; great-grandchildren, Elizabeth Hill, Olivia Hill and Peter Hill.
