Obituary.
The funeral of Alex Butts was held at the family home south of town yesterday afternoon, conducted by Rev. J.R. McFadden of the Methodist church.
Alexander Edward Butts, the son of Alexander and Hannah Butts, was born in the same house in which he died, Nov. 12, 1882, born almost two months after his fathers death, he came to be in a peculiar sense the solace of his widowed mother. His last illness began with a sudden severe attack Sept. 19th, though for a year or more he had not been in the most robust health. During his last illness he suffered most excruciating pain that seemed at times to be beyond human endurance until last Sunday afternoon when he sank into the slumber from which on this earth there is no wakening.
He had returned but a short time before his death from Nex Mexico, where he had purchased a tract of land that he intended to carve into a permanent home hoping the climate would be more congenial to his health.
The deceased was a young man of unusual tenderness and kindness, a young man especially fond of his home and so kind and loving to all, adn to his mother and sisters in particular, as to endear him to everyone, and his natural sunny disposition and joyous enthusiasm made him a general favorite.
Besides his mother, he leaves as immediate relatives three brothers and three sisters, and a host of friends whose sympathy goes out to those sorrowing ones that words cannot express.
