The Hon Edward Avery m. 2d, Feb. 23, 1834, at Westport, Mrs. Genette Maria (Sherwood) Brush, his second wife. She was b. Dec. 1, 1799, in Conn.; d. Sept. 4, 1851, at Wooster, O. Edward Avery settled at Wooster, O., in 1817, and was one of the pioneer lawyers of that place. He was elected prosecuting attorney of Wayne County in 1819; state senator in 1824; judge of the supreme court of Ohio in 1845; resigned on account of ill health in 1851. He was a graduate of Yale and a man of great scholarly attainments. He d. June 27, 1866, at Wooster, O. No children (The Groton Avery Clan, Vol. I., Part II, pp.506-507).
