John Spencer Raley was born in March 7, 1825 in Marion County, Kentucky. His father is Benedict Raley 1788-1866and his mother is Keziah Scott Raley 1789-1861 (they were married in 1811 in Washington County, Kentucky). His siblings are Elizabeth Raley 1813-1847, James Scott Raley 1819-1863, Margaret Mahala Raley 1821-1899, and Stephen Raley 1824-1892. He married Catherine Watkins in 1842 in Kentucky. Their children are Susan Raley Murphy 1843-1912, James T Raley 1845-1922, Mary Elizabeth Raley Murphy 1852-1916, Sarah Martha Raley Clements 1856-1882, Bluford Boots Raley 1861-1937, and Joseph B Raley 1868-1951. He died in 1883 at the age of 58, and was buried in Bethel Union Cemetery in Lebanon , Marion County, Kentucky.
