Sally was the daughter of William DeMott and Permelia Fairchild DeMott. She came with her parents to Elkhorn, Walworth Co. WI, afterwards removing to New Chester. She married Horace Baggs in 1846 and had two sons, Omar and Frank Baggs. Sally married second Emerson Beals in 1854, and to this union six children were born: Lucy (d. 1894), William of New Chester, Benjamin of Jackson, George of Westfield, Nettie (Mrs. Nettie Weidewald of Nekoosa), and Annie (Mrs. Bamber), deceased. One sister and three brothers also survived her.

Her funeral was held at the home of Benj. Beals, her son, and at the New Chester Church, Rev. James Deans officiating. The Jonesville choir took part in the services.
