ECRU – Etoyle Shettles, 99, died Wednesday, Dec. 30, 2009, at Graceland Care Center in Pontotoc. She was born Nov. 29, 1910, to Walter and Verna Robbins. She was a lifelong resident of Pontotoc County, living most of her life in Ecru. She was the eldest member of Ecru Baptist Church and very active her whole life until her health failed. She enjoyed reading, working crossword puzzles, spending time with her family and loving the Lord.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Browning Funeral Home Chapel in Ecru with the Rev. Buster Wilson officiating. Burial will follow in the Ecru Cemetery. Browning Funeral Home in Ecru is in charge of arrangements.

Survivors include her sons, Billy Shettles and Bobby Shettles, both of Ecru; her daughters, Sandra (Tommy) McClure of Ingomar and Dottie (Steve) Cobb of Ecru; six grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren; and her sister, Margie Heard of Ecru.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, James Shettles; five sisters, Doris Horton, Evelyn Gaines, Dorothy Burchfield, Christine Robbins and Jewell Robbins; two brothers, James and Harold Lloyd Robbins; and her daughter-in-law, Jimmie Nelle Shettles.

Pallbearers will be Kevin Cobb, Keith Cobb, Jason Thomas, Jeff Bagwell, Bryan Jarvis and Steve Cobb. Honorary pallbearer will be Tommy McClure.
