Pioneer coffee merchant at 115 I street and old resident of Sacramento. He conducted a large coffee and spice mill for many years. He amassed a very large fortune in his business and had considerable property in Sacramento and San Francisco. His health had been failing for some months when he died of heart disease. He was survived by his wife and four daughters: Mrs. Ed. Goepel, Mrs. Georgie Stewart, Mrs. James Ryan, and Miss Rosie Dingley.
Nathaniel was married four times, Mary Reilly, Mary Wyant, Emma (last name unknown at this time) and Julie E. Horton. He was divorced twice and his 4th wife (Julie) was in the process of divorcing him when he died.
