Mrs. Lucille Bryan Rockett Boyd left this world on Thursday, September 29, 2011 at the age of 93. She loved her Lord and was very active in church work. Lucille lived life to the fullest and was involved in many community activities. She spent most of her years and raised her children in Jonesboro La. Then moved to Downsville La where she was born and raised. In later years, she moved to Keithville La. She was an artist with many beautiful oil paintings to her credit. She loved cooking and taking food to those in need. She was always there when needed and was the Hub of her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Rommie Bryan Sr. and Janie Spurlock Bryan, Her first husband, H D Rockett and her second husband W P Boyd. She was also preceded in death by two brothers John Grayson Bryan and Murrell Bryan and two sisters Farrah Bryan Holder and Evelyn Bryan Price.
Left to cherish her memory are her four children, Billy Grey Rockett and wife Claudia, Martha Ann Rockett Lowe and husband Larry, Thomas Chesley Rockett and wife Marilyn and Rickey Miller Rockett and wife Cara. She was blessed with ten grandchildren, twenty-two great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild of whom she was very proud. She is also survived by one brother Rommie Bryan Jr. and his wife Marilee and a number of nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends at Southern Funeral Home, in Jonesboro, LA, on Sunday, October 2, 2011 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM, and again on Monday, October 3, 2011 from 8:00 AM until time of services.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 AM on Monday, October 3, 2011 in the Southern Funeral Home Chapel, with Bro. Freddie Shows officiating. Interment will follow in the Bernice Cemetery, in Bernice, LA
