Alexander Alvenius Grabs was the fourth of five known children of Christian Heinrich (Henry) Grabs (1792-1857) and Susannah Transou Grabs (1798-1863).
Alexander married Jane Virginia Werner (1836-1908) on 30 Nov 1854 at Bethania, Forsyth County, North Carolina. Alexander and Jane were the parents of two known children, namely:
1. Laura Eugenia Grabs Reed (1856-1938)
2. Emily Odelia Grabs Holder (1863-1945)
