At about noon Tuesday, February 25, Mr. James Davis Tharpe died at his home about seven miles northeast of Perry. The funeral services were conducted Wednesday, and the burial that afternoon in Evergreen Cemetery.
He was born in Houston county and lacked less than three months of being 79 years of age.
Of his immediate family surviving him are his devoted wife, three daughters and two sons: Mrs. R.S. Henry of Chattanooga, Tenn., Mrs. J.B. Riley and Mr. Augustus Tharpe of Macon, Mrs. J.C. Solomon of Atlanta, Mrs. Coalson Tharp [sic] of Houston County. There are also several grandchildren and many other relatives.
