Retired Painter, Resident of Burlington Many Years - Victim of Long Illness
Funeral services for Kosmos Hartman, 82, retired painter, who died at his home, 1503 1/2 Mt. Pleasant street. yesterday morning, will be held at 4 o'clock Friday afternoon. The Rev. R.R. Belter, pastor of the Bethany Lutheran, will be in charge of the services and burial will be in Aspen Grove cemetery.
Mr. Hartman had been in failing health for several years. He was born in Germany, Sept. 28, 1848, but had lived in Burlington for many years. He was married to Miss Minnie Fishman(SIC), a native of Germany, who came to this county as a child, in Chicago, Dec. 18, 1860. They lost all their possessions in the Chicago fire of 1871 and came to Burlington a short time later. They had made their home here ever since, and had Mr. Hartman lived, would have celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary next December.
He is survived by eight sons, Henry, William, Ed B., Albert, Arthur, Clarence, George, all of Burlington, and Robert of Moline; one daughter, Mrs. George Kellam of Burlington; one sister, Mrs. Jacob Brem of Burlington; 27 grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren.
