From The History of Lake County Illinois - 1891:
ABEL G. BUELL, deceased, was one of the early settlers of this county. Pie was born in Springfield, Mass., March 25, 1799, and when a small boy emigrated to Wyoming County, N.Y., where he grew to manhood and was married. The wedding was celebrated December 22, 1825, Eveline G. Barbour becoming his wife. She was a native of Stanton, Conn., born July 22, 1807, and emigrated with her parents to Wyoming County, N. Y. In 1841 Mr. Buell started Westward, traveling by boat as far as Toledo, Ohio, and then by team to Lake County, ILL He cast his lot with the early settlers of this community and here spent the remainder of his life. The farm upon which he located is the one upon which Mrs. James M. Frost is now living, in Benton Township. He was a well-to-do farmer, a man of good habits and one that took an active part in local affairs, especially such interests as were calculated to upbuild or benefit the community. In political sentiments, in early life he was a Whig and on the dissolution of that party identified himself with the Republican party. Both he and his wife were members of the Baptist Church. Her death occurred on the 22d of August, 1874, and on the 4th of January, 1879, Mr. Buell also passed away.

In their family were six children: Lucius C., who died at the age of sixty-three years, leaving one son, Clarence H., who resides in the State of Washington; Weltha G. married Silas F. Baker, by whom she had two children, Eugene S. and Clara E.; she died June 14, 1891; Chester H., who married Caroline Y, Chad wick and resides in Indianapolis, Ind., with his wife and four children; Warren, William, Clara F. and Edwin; Fidelia M., wife of J. M. Frost, who now owns and operates the old Buell homestead; Minerva A., widow of Julius H. Eddy, resides in Benton Township and has four children, J. A,, Lew R., Herbert H. and Eveline G.; Owen W., the youngest of the children, died in his twenty-first year. The Buell family has resided in this county for half a century and is therefore numbered among the very old settled families. The parents were highly respected citizens and reared their children to habits of industry, thus making them valued members of society.
