Mrs. Garland
Mrs. Pearl Morgan Garland, 72, of Mize Road, died early Tuesday morning, March 27, in the Community Hospital, Anaheim, Calif. following an extended illness.
Mrs. Garland was born in Franklin County, Dec. 12, 1900, a daughter of the late Gus and Minnie Durham Morgan and had lived most of his life in Stephens and Franklin counties. She was a member of Carnes Creek Baptist church and the Adult Ladies Sunday School Class.
Survivors include her husband, W. Robert Garland of Toccoa; a daughter, Mrs. L.M. Lively of Anaheim, Calif.; a granddaughter, Jacquie Lively and a grandson, Chip Lively both of Anaheim; four sisters, Mrs. George Smith of Martin, Mrs. Luke Wilbanks of Avalon, Mrs. Isom Bell of Toccoa, Mrs. Paul Harris of Eastanollee; four brothers, Amer Morgan and John Morgan both of Toccoa, Lynn Morgan and Tom Morgan both of Avalon; a sister-in-law, Mrs. Elmer Morgan of Coeburn, Va.; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 3 o'clock Saturday from the Carnes Creek Baptist Church with Rev. Thomas Phillips, Rev. J.E. Cornette and Mr. Clarence Davis officiating. Burial was in the Stephens Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers were Howard Bell, Dwain Wilbanks, Charles Morgan, Carlton Harris, Joseph Bell and Gene Morgan. The Mathews Mortuary is in charge of the arrangements.
