Mrs. Mary Anna Schroeter, 65, widow of the late T. H. Schroeter, of Bayard, passed away last Thursday at Hillcrest General Mrs. Schroeter was a resident of Bayard for 44 years. She was a charter member of the Bayard Methodist Church and was a member of the Robert Taper chapter of the Rebekahs at Bayard. She was also a member of the Tyrone Chapter, Order of Eastern Star, of which she was a past worthy matron. Survivors of the deceased are two daughters, Mrs. Caroline White of Albuquerque and Mrs. Frances White of Silver City; a son, Theodore Schroeter, Jr. of Silver City; eight grandchildren; and four brothers, J. Frank McDonald of El Paso, Jessie McDonald of Smithville, Tex., Alton McDonald and Fred McDonald of Los Angeles. Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Curtis Mortuary chapel. Conducting the rites were the Rev. Jesse Watson, of the Bayard Methodist Church and the Rev. Harold E. Johnson, of Santa Rita Community Church. Serving as pallbearers were Lewis Vencille, Virgil Byrd, Baxter Evatt, Bob Porter, Earl Atkins and William Russell. Burial was in the Masonic cemetery. Members of the Tyrone Eastern Star Chapter held ritualistic committal graveside services.
