Underneath this tablet of stone dedicated to her ever beloved memory by her surviving Husband lie interred the mouldering remains of Mrs. Sarah Griffin, Consort of S.S. Griffin, of the Medical Faculty in this City. Born 29 June 1787. Married 19 Nov 1808. Expired 12 Nov 1846. Thy eulogy, dear SARAH, is seen gushing from the weeping eyes of those whom thou has left behind in thy transit to eternity: no eloquence can be more impressive. Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord, yea, saith the spirit, that they may rest from their labours and their works do follow them. She is not dead, but sleepeth; for as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive. Peaceful, sleep out the Sabbath of thy tomb and wake to raptures in a World to come. Go, live, for God's eternal year is thine. Go be transform'd from mortal to divine. Go, where beatitude alone is found. Where anthems of redeeming love resound. Thy children most around thee quiet lie. Its here we would repose when called to die. Stay not these tears, a suffering hearts relief and ere we taste thy joys, permit our grief this little boon, a slab engraved receive tis all thy Husband, all his love can leave.
