She was born on Sept. 30, 1919 in Garnet, daughter of the late Raymond and Katherine (Mauer) Rice. (sic) She married Ervin Broeckel on April 7, 1942 at Jericho.
She farmed with her husband in the town of Brothertown, and had worked for the Chilton Canning Co. She was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Jericho, and the couple had planned to celebrate their golden wedding in April of his year.
Survivors include her husband, Ervin, a brother, Hugo Rice in California, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a sister, Henrietta.
Funeral services were held at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Jericho with the Rev. Peter Coffey, SDS officiating. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.
