Afton Lemmon Southam Hickman, 85, of Pleasant Grove, passed away Friday, February 16, 1996 in American Fork, Utah.

She was born April 23, 1910 in Smithfield, Utah to John and Nellie Richardson Lemmon. She married Ray Campbell; they were later divorced. She later married Leland Southam, June 28, 1941 in Richfield, Utah. They were later sealed July 31, 1962 in the Manti LDS Temple. He passed away July 9, 1966. She then married Peter Hickman on April 30, 1976. He died February 13, 1985. She attended schools in Smithfield and lived in various communities throughout Utah and Nevada before settling with her family in Pleasant Grove in 1956. She was a member of the LDS Church, having served in many capacities. She especially enjoyed serving as drama director and the Relief Society presidency during her life. Her life was devoted to serving her family. She was always known as an extremely compassionate person whose home was open to anyone in need.

She is survived by three daughters and four sons: Phyllis (Robert) Nielsen, Salina; Norma (Don) McBride, Montello, Nev.; Lynn (LeeAnn) Southam, Aurora, Colo.; Leslie (Nancy) Southam, Pleasant Grove; Jeanie (Larry) Walker, Highland; Kurt (Jeanne) Southam, Nashport, Ohio; Hal Southam, Clinton, Utah; 46 grandchildren; and 52 great-grandchildren. Additional survivors include two sisters and one brother. She was preceded in death by a daughter and two sons, Beth Campbell Nielsen, Steven and Dean Southam, and a stepson, Robert Southam; and seven grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Monday, February 19, 1996 at 11 a.m., in the Grove Creek Fourth Ward Chapel, 700 East 500 North, Pleasant Grove. Friends may call Sunday evening from 6-8 p.m. at Olpin Family Mortuary, 500 South 300 East, Pleasant Grove, and one hour prior to services on Monday. Burial will be in the Pleasant Grove City Cemetery.
