The Oklahoman, Friday, May 9, 1952:
Mrs Carolyn Elaine Purcell, 38, died Thursday in St Anthony Hospital where she had been confined the past 8 months as a leukemia patient. She had been ill since Oct 3.

Mrs Purcell had lived in Oklahoma City since 1930 when she came here from Memphis, TN with her parents. She was graduated from Capitol Hill High School and was a member of the Kiltie Band here several years.

Her husband, Keith Purcell, is a sales representative for an industrial tool company. They were married here in 1935. Mrs Purcell had worked at Montgomery Wards as a sales clerk before her illness. She was a member of the Capitol Hill Baptist Church. Services are pending at Hunter Funeral Home.

Survivors are her husband; a son, Kenley Michael; and two daughters, Linda Gail and Carolyn Lapane, all of the home; her parents, Mr and Mrs W. K. Dowtin, 808 NE 30; a brother, Wilbin Dowtin, 808 NE 30; three sisters, Mrs J. R. Pounds, 2824 NW 43; Mrs Lavon Murcer, Chandler; and Mrs Winter Wilson, West Palm Beach, FL.
