Fayette County - James Farley Murphey, Jr., longtime resident of the Somerville Community, retired rural mail carrier, World War II veteran and husband of the late Mary Louise Pulliam Murphey died September 28, 2011. Services of Remembrance for Mr. Murphey will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Somerville First United Methodist Church. Interment, with military honors, will be in the Somerville City Cemetery. A visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Peebles Main Funeral Chapel in Somerville. A devoted member of his church and member of Veterans of Foreign Wars, Mr. Murphey is survived by his daughter, Emily Murphey Akin (Ronnie) of Union City; his son, James Farley Murphey, III (Patricia) of Ramer; his sister, Mary Neil Hale of Albuquerque, NM; his brother, Joseph C. Murphey (Rosemary) of Erie, PA; his grandsons, Scott Akin (Jennifer) of Monticello, AR, James Farley Murphey, IV (Amy) of Murfreesboro, Joseph Franklin Murphey (Kerry) of Buford, GA; his granddaughter, Molly Akin of Tallahassee, FL; 3 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
