G.H. Brantly age 52, night manager of the Hot Springs, Ark. Western Union Office for the past 8 years, died suddenly of a heart attack while visiting at the home of his father in Arcadia, Louisiana this past Saturday.
A Westen Union employee since 1926, he had served as a manager of offices at Lake Providence, La. and Harrison, Ark. and was night manager of Lake Charles, La. before accepting a similr position in Hot Springs in Sept. 1946.
He had recently returned from a vacation visit with his son, James Brantly and wife Donna at Tucson, Arizona. He and his wife and 3 daughters had arrived at his father's house just 10 minutes before he was stricken and died instantly.
Mr. Brantly and his wife helped start Memorial Baptist Chuch outside of Hot Springs, Ark. and he was very active in that church. He was Sunday School Superintendent and served as a deacon.
He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth; his son James P. Brantly and wife Donna of Tucson, Ariz.; three daughters - Velma Brantly of Little Rock, Ark. and Claire and Ruth
Brantly of the home. His body was taken to Caruth Funeral Home and funeral services will be at Memorial Baptist church with burial at the Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
