George enlisted, October 11, 1915 in Troop A, Squadron A Cavalry, New York City. He Served with Troop A, Squadron A. Cavalry on the Mexican Border, June 1916 - December 1916. He attended Plattsburg Officers Training School, and commissioned 2nd Lieutenant, Field Artillery, September 1, 1917. He was assigned to 305th Field Artillery, 77th Division and 52nd Field Artillery and saw combat in France. Promoted 1st Lieutenant, on December 31, 1917 and Captain on July 30, 1918. He was discharged from the service December 18, 1918.
His brother, Capt. Belvedere Brooks was killed in action, July 30, 1918 in France.
He received his education at Williams College and became a lawyer.
His obituary appeared in the New York Times June 21, 1966.
