Josephine A. Horrocks, 87, of Greenville, peacefully went to rest on Wednesday, Aug. 29, 2001 at Our Place Cares Adult Foster Care Home in Greenville, where she resided since January 1998.

She was born February 13, 1914 in Montcalm County, the daughter of John and Barbara Skopec Wacha.

Josephine resided at the Kidville Farm and attended Belding Schools.

She was married to Judd Horrocks at St. Joseph Catholic Church on May 22, 1943. Then moving to Ionia where she lived and worked until moving to
Cumberland Retirement Home in Lowell on April 24, 1992.

During her married life she was an active member of St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Ionia, also Daughters of Isabella and the Rosary Society.

Josephine is survived by a sister, Mary Brownell of Rockford, many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her caretaker and niece, Maggie (Tom) Jones of Belding.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Judd on March 8, 1984. She was also preceded in death by her parents, her sisters, Helen Steishal in 1951 and Agnes Rode of Grand Rapids in 1995 and her brothers, Martin in 1971 and Frank in 1986 and a dear friend, Bertha Walengan in 1989.

Mass of Christian burial will be 11 a.m., Saturday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Belding, with Fr. Troy A. Nevins as celebrant. Interment will be in Highland Park Cemetery in Ionia.

Visitation will be 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday with a Rosary at 8:30 at Johnson-Feuerstein Funeral Home, Belding.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph Church Building Fund or St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church.
