Baroness Eleanor Mautravers

Daughter of John Mautravers and Gwenthlian Wenthlian. Granddaughter of Sir John Mautravers and Milicent de Berkeley. Co-heiress to her brother, Henry.

Wife of Lord Arundel Sir John FitzAlan, Earl of Arundel and Surrey, son of Sir Richard de Arundel and Eleanor of Lancaster. They married 17 Feb 1358 at Salisbury, and produced five sons and two daughters:
* Joan FitzAlan 1370 – 1404
* Ranulph FitzAlan 1359 – 1400
* John FitzAlan 1364 – 1390
* Eleanor FitzAlan 1366 – 1425
* William Fitzalan 1366 – 1400
* Richard FitzAlan 1368 – 1419
* Henry FitzLangley 1369 – 1428
* Jane Arundel 1375 – 1404

Sir John died testate, drowned in the Irish Sea, buried at Lewes Priory.

Eleanor married a second time to Sir Reynold Cobham, as his second wife, 09 August 1380, they were related in the 2nd and third degrees of kindred. They were divorced on account of their consanguinity but allowed to remarry with proper dispensation. They had one son:
* John De Cobham 1379-1415, married Eleanor Culpepper

Eleanor was buried next to Sir John FitzAlan.
