Mrs. Lois Arnold Vanstory, 89, of Rosewood Assisted Living and formerly of Olin, died Monday, February 2, 2004 at Davis Regional Medical Center. She was born April 29, 1914 in Yadkin County, a daughter of the late Thomas M. and Mittie E. Steelman Arnold. She was a retired Nurses Aid and member of Olin United Methodist Church. On July 10, 1932, she married James L. Vanstory and, after enjoying 60 years of marriage, he preceded her in death November 8, 1992.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Mina M. Williams; a brother, Albert Arnold; and a great-grandson, Christopher Price. Mrs. Vanstory is survived by five daughters, Joann Drum, of Olin; Ethel Crowley of Charlotte; Ruth Schauer of Pennsylvania; Betty Dobson of Statesville; and Donna J. Vanstory of Charlotte; a sister, Minnie Brown, of Hamptonville. Also surviving are 12 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, one step-grandchild, one step-great-grandchild.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in the chapel of Reavis Funeral Home of Harmony, conducted by the Rev. James White. Interment will follow in the Snow Creek United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10 until 11 a.m. Friday at Reavis Funeral Home of Harmony. For those who prefer, memorials may be given to The American Red Cross, Iredell Chapter, P.O. Box 1446, Statesville, North Carolina 28687 or to the choice of the donor.
