Eldest daughter of Judge Hiram & his first wife, Levica (Stafford) Matthews.
Married Oliver H. McPherson on Aug. 19, 1841. They were the parents of 11 children.
Survived By: Six children; 2 brothers, Calvin and Seth Matthews.
=========================
In case someone finds the obituary found at the Mooresville Library/Obituary Finder (from the Martinsville Republican) it states her death year as 1904 - however the marker has it as 1911.
Since the "actual" copy of the obituary is not there, this has been a typo on the year.
It also has the wrong name for Mary's mother listed, as Hiram did not marry Anna Stuart until Sept. 6, 1838.
I received an e-mail from Tim Chambers 4-17-2015, and Mary McPherson is his wife's Great Aunt. He has been kind enough to send a copy of the actual obituary and dates.
