She was born in Dallas, Texas, February 5, 1926, to Frank and Josephine Turner Groves. After graduating from high school in 1943, she worked for a year with the Eighth Service Command in Dallas and attended the University of Texas-Austin for one year. Ola and husband Bill Krone were united in marriage on June 12, 1945. She was a homemaker while her children were small and later worked for the hospital in Minneapolis, Kansas for seven years and in the grade school cafeteria for eleven years, retiring in 1991.
In 1992 she and Bill moved to Pretty Prairie, Kansas where they enjoyed retirement and close contact with their children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. They established special friendships with many Pretty Prairie residents through attending functions at the Pretty Prairie Senior Center.
Ola was preceded in death by her parents, an infant son William Frank, and her brother Albert Groves. She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Bill; daughter Mary Jo Chilton, Pretty Prairie; son Ted Krone and wife Ann of Wichita; son Jim Krone and wife Barbara of Wichita; son Mike Krone and wife Diane of Hutchinson, eight grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.
The funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. September 29, 2011 at Wilson Family Funeral Home in Minneapolis. Burial will be at the Highland Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday from 2 P.M. to 8 P.M. at the funeral home where the family will receive friends from 6 P.M. to 8 P.M.
A memorial service will be held at 11 A.M., Saturday at the Pretty Prairie United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Pretty Prairie United Methodist Church, 201 S Rhodes, Box 324, Pretty Prairie, KS 67570
