Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Laurel Land Funeral Home. Burial will be in Laurel Land Memorial Park.
Mr. Bass was born in Martins Mill and had lived in Fort Worth for 58 years. He was a graduate of North Texas State University and a Navy veteran.
Mr. Bass taught school for several years and then was owner and operator of Red Hat Oil Co. in Fort Worth for 30 years until his retirement in 1970.He was a Mason and a member of Travis Avenue Baptist Church.
He and his wife celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary in December.
The family suggests that memorials be made to the American Lung Foundation.
Survivors: Wife, Scharlyn Miller Bass; two sons, James F. Bass and Charles R. Bass, both of Houston; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
