HOWARD ADAIR

Mr. Howard W. Adair, 98, of Waco died Wednesday, June 25, at a Waco retirement center. He was born November 30, 1904 in Vaughan, son of Warner Christian and Zora Bell Anderson Adair. He was raised in the Abbott area and attended school in Vaughan and Abbott. He had formerly lived in Hillsboro for 28 years and in West for a number of years. A member of First Baptist Church of Elm Mott, he farmed and ranched near Abbott and owned Abbott Cash Market for 12 years and Magnolia Gas Station in West for three years. He married Viola C. May January 15, 1927, and she preceded him in death November 9, 1997. Survivors include: two children, Doris Thrasher and husband, James R., and James W. Adair and wife, Elizabeth, all of Waco; six grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Graveside services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 28, at Ridge Park Cemetery in Hillsboro with Rev. Harley Gordon officiating.
