Geneva H. Snyder, 101 years of age, formerly of Effingham, died Thursday, May 21, 2009, at a nursing home in Tallahassee, Fla.
Graveside services and burial of cremated remains will be 1 p.m. on Saturday, June 13, 2009, at the Evergreen Cemetery, Effingham. A visitation with family will follow in Effingham Union Church Hall. Geneva H. Hargrove was born on Feb. 10, 1908, in Effingham, the daughter of Ruben and Idella (Pruitt) Hargrove. She was a school teacher for many years, a member of the Christian Church, Senior Citizens, Retired Teachers Association, and was a 50-year member of the Order of Eastern Star.
She was married to J.R. "Bud" Snyder on June 22, 1930, in Effingham. Mr. Snyder preceded her in death on Jan. 21, 1986. Survivors include a daughter, Shirley and husband Bill Driscoll, Tallahassee, Fla., a granddaughter, Kim and husband Jeff George, Jacksonville, Fla.
