Larkin was a Captain in the 7th Arkansas Calvary (Hills)
It is believed he raised this unit as a Home Guard.
He came to the Arcadia Valley in Missouri with his unit during General Price's raid. He died at the Battle of Pilot Knob and from family records believed to be buried in the South Rifle Pit at Fort Davidson, Pilot Knob, Mo.
