After Marie's husband died in 1920 during the flu epidemic she was left to raise 3 young boys. She decided to change the spelling of "Klein" to Clyne in 1938 as there was a lot of anti-German sentiment after WWI at the time. Consequently, all of the boys descendants were "Clyne"
