Mrs. Mary C. Dukes, aged 82 years, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Albert Grosenbacher, 920 East Quincy street, Sunday afternoon at 4 o'clock. Several days ago she was stricken with paralysis and never recuperated.
Mrs. Dukes had been a resident of San Antonio for forty years, and was active in philanthropie work about the city. She was born in Charleston, S. C. and came in this city with her husband, the late John R. Dukes, in 1875. She was a leading member of the First Presbyterian Church for many years and was recently connected with the Madison Square Presbyterian Church. Mrs. Dukes had a wide circle of friends in San Antonio and the state.
She is survived by six daughters, Mrs. J. E. Moffett, Mrs. J. W. Rogers and Mrs. Albert Grosenbacher of this city; Mrs. G. G. Brazelton of Tyler, Mrs. James C. Ochler of Palestine and Mrs. William Taylor of Houston, and by two sons, W. B. Dukes and J. M. Dukes of California.
The funeral services will be held at the Madison Square Presbyterian Church, Tuesday morning at 10 o'clock.
