KATHARINE B. COVERDALE
NEWPORT NEWS (29 Nov 1990) -- Katharine Briggs COVERDALE, 82, died Wednesday, Nov. 28, in Mary Immaculate Hospital.
The native of Fort Riley, Kan., had been a local resident for two years. The widow of Maj. Gen. Barrison B. Coverdale lived in Columbus, Ga., from 1972 to 1988.
Mrs. Coverdale was a homemaker and an Episcopal member of the Main Post Chapel, Fort Benning, Ga. She was also a member of the Daughters of the U.S. Army.
Survivors include a daughter, Marna C. Brumback of Newport News; a brother, Adm. Cameron BRIGGS of San Diego, Calif.; eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday in Arlington National Cemetery.
The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to the American Cancer Society, 618-C J. Clyde Morris Blvd., Newport News 23601, or American Heart Association, 753 Thimble Shoals Blvd., Newport News 23606.
