HERMAN D. DECK, 88, of Fort Wayne, died Thursday, Aug. 12, 2004, at Renaissance Village Nursing Home. Born in Morsch, Germany, he was a graduate of Central High School. He married Mabel Rexstrew, Oct. 21, 1939, in South Bend. He worked at International Harvester for 40 years, retiring in 1978, was a member of Ft. Wayne Sports Club and Grace St. Johns United Church of Christ. Surviving are his wife, Mabel, and daughter and son-in-law, Judy and Bob Myers of Fort Wayne; grandchildren, Kerri (Tim) Bowers, Jo (Terry) Tracy, Rhonda (Dave) Kessel, Terry (Lisa) Myers and Barry (Erica) Myers; 18 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Rose Wiedemann of Fort Wayne. He was preceded in death by brother, Joseph Deck, and sister, Mary Karrer. Service is 11 a.m. Tuesday at Covington Memorial Funeral Home, 8408 Covington Road, with Pastor Julia Goodall officiating. Calling is from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, and one hour prior to service, Tuesday. Burial at Covington Memorial Gardens. Memorials to Grace St. Johns United Church of Christ.
