h/o Martha Jane Lipe
m. Dec. 5, 1873 Jackson County, IL

Abraham Hagler was born June 6, 1848 in Murphysboro township, Jackson County, Illinois. He died September 9, 1925 at his country home five miles south of Carbondale, where he had lived for 33 years, being at the time of his death 77 years, 3 months and 3 days of age.

He was married to Martha Jane Lipe, December 7, 1873. To this union were born four children: Harlin Hagler of St. Louis, Mrs. Floyd Nebughr of Carbondale, Charlie Hagler of Arkadelphia, Ark., and Mrs. Leo Nebughr of Carbondale.

He united with the Rock Spring Free Baptist Church 45 years ago, having lived a consistent Christian life ever since. He was always a faithful Sunday School member as long as his health would premit him to attend. His passing marks the end of one of the pioneer families of Jackson County. The community, the church, the Sunday School and his home have sustained a loss that can never be filled and will be keenly felt.
