Frances attended Washington Gardner High School where she graduated in 1938, and Albion College. She worked at Michigan Bell in Albion until the office closed. She was a bookkeeper and office manager for several area auto dealerships. She served as a dispatcher for Albion Ambulance for 13 years. She was active in her Class of 1938 social group. She was an active member of St. James Episcopal Church-Albion, president of its E.C.W.; and served on the vestry. She also served as the music librarian. A Charter member of the American Legion Post # 55 Auxiliary; A life member, past president and long time chaplain of the V.F.W. Post #3672 Auxiliary. She helped form and was the first Secretary of the Literacy Council of Calhoun County, served on the Board of the Albion Historical Society, volunteered on Hospital Service League and was a long time member of the AAAS, Empire Heritage Assn, and AARP.
Frances is survived by: Daughter, Carole Judith Sholes of Kalamazoo; granddaughters, Amy Frances Sholes and Rebecca Ruth Smith; great granddaughter, Kayleigh Vaughan Sholes; and numerous cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
Visitation for family and friends will be Friday, September 23 at noon at St. James Episcopal Church, 119 W. Erie Street, Albion.
Funeral Services will be Friday September 23 at 1 p.m. at the church with Rev. John Morris officiating. Burial will be at Albion Memory Gardens in Albion Township.
