Virginia A. (Robbins) Thatcher, 59, of 1 Pleasant St. died on Thursday at Cooley Dickinson Hospital in Northampton. She and her husband, Arthur C. Thatcher, owned and operated Thatcher's Dairy Farm. She was a 40-year member and lecturer of the Grange, an officer of the Hillside Pomona Grange, and a member of the State and National Granges. Born in Northfield, she was a 1955 graduate of Pittsfield High School. She lived in Cummington before moving here 40 years ago. She attended the Congregational Church; volunteered at the Shaw Memorial Library, and was a polls worker. Besides her husband, she leaves three sons, two daughters, her parents, two sisters, and seven grandchildren. The funeral will be Sunday afternoon in the church, with the burial in Hilltop Cemetery. There are no calling hours, and Pease Funeral Home of Northampton is in charge. Memorial contributions may be made to the Fire Department, Plainfield, 01070, or the Cummington Ambulance Association, Cummington, 01026.
