1948 obit - Millen, GA, April 25 - Funeral services for Edwin M. Chance, 76, who died in a Waycross hospital yesterday after an illness of several days, will be held Monday afternoon at 4 o'clock at the Green Fork church with the Rev. P. I. P. Edenfield officiating. Assisted by the Rev. R. C. Smith. Interment will be in the church cemetery.
Pallbearers, all nephews of Mrs. Chance, will be M. N. Alexander, S. E. Rhodes, Gary Rhodes, Ralph Chance, Curtis Bassett and A. O. Chance.
A retired farmer, Mr. Chance had lived all his life in the Red Hill district of Jenkins county, where he had many friends.
He is survived by five daughters, Mrs. W. R. Lewis of Millen, Mrs. Horace Bell of Waynesboro, Mrs. W. P. Bargeron of Augusta, Mrs. M. N. Alexander of Charleston, SC and Mrs. F. B. Saxon of Woodcliff; three sons, Fred Chance and Byron Chance of Perkins and Harold Chance of Millen; one sister, Mrs. Ella Rowe of Savannah and one twin brother, Rufus Chance of Perkins.
