LASSITER, Sylvia A., 84, of Vinton, passed away Wednesday, January 10, 2001. She was the widow of Edward B. Lassiter. She was a retired school teacher with the Roanoke County School System with 37 1/2 years of service. Mrs. Lassiter was a member of the Vinton Baptist Church and a member of the CHI NU Sorority. Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Billie Lynn and James W. Mercer of Fredericksburg; son and daughter-in-law, Edward B. Lassiter, Jr. and Gay Lassiter of Roanoke; grandchildren, Jimmy Mercer and wife, Denise, Sylvia Lynn Mercer, all of Fredericksburg, Kristal Lassiter of Asheville, N.C., Brady Lassiter of Richmond, David Lassiter of Roanoke; one great grandson. Interment will be in the Mountain View Cemetery, Vinton.
